What Got Me Here?

Updated: Apr 23, 2019

In high school, I spent the majority of my extracurricular time focused on my high school's Yearbook staff. Yearbook was a crucial part of my high school career, and it allowed me to express my creativity and it helped me realize what I wanted to do for a living. Participating in Yearbook was a wonderful way for me to gain beneficial experience in Photoshop, InDesign, and other Design platforms.

When applying for college, I had so many different ideas as to what I wanted to do with my life, all so different from each other. At first, I had my mind set on physical therapy, So I applied to be a Biology major. I then changed my mind not too long after and decided to change my major before I got to A&M to Applied Mathematics. Math was always my favorite subject in school, so I thought "Why not just major in it." I figured Applied Mathematics would be perfect because it was so versatile and there were so many things I could have done with it.

So when I got to A&M and started taking classes for Applied Math, I quickly realized there was something so important that was missing, a passion for what I was doing. Don't get me wrong, I still really like math and the problem solving aspect of it, but sitting in math classes for the rest of the four years I'll be at college just did not sound appealing. I needed some of the creativity in my course work that I was missing from when I was in Yearbook. So I decided to change my major to Business, so that I could focus in Marketing and hopefully one day get a job in Advertising that way I can incorporate both my creative and logical strengths into my job, doing something I have a passion for.

Right now I'm in General Studies, and I will be applying for Mays Business School come mid-May, and I honestly could not be more excited about finally figuring out what I want to do when I graduate. It took a couple bumps in the road, but I'm SO excited about doing what I'm truly interested in.
